I’m David, a multidisciplinary Designer, Creative Director and HE educator

I am an Italian-Scottish Designer born on the sunny side of Italy (Amalfi Coast) and raised between these beautiful countries.

I started drawing comics and illustrations at the age of four, and since then, I've never stopped! My artistic skills and passion for Design were passed down from my father through his illustrious career as a Designer, maker, and entrepreneur. I grew up admiring his ethos and learning from him every day, giving me the background, attitude, and motivation to deal with the creative business world.

Today, I can say that I thrive and achieve the most when I am outside my comfort zone, and this pushes me to explore various situations that would not occur naturally within the discipline boundaries. Curiosity and my approach to situations from different angles have helped me thrive throughout my career.

This mindset started when I was twelve as I wanted to challenge my creativity, so I took a different approach to my studies, starting with industrial Design and mechanical engineering to provide a differently structured approach to my out-of-control creativity. I then returned to the creative approach, studying product design and furthering my knowledge in design thinking and innovation.

I am an experienced professional with over 20 years of commitment and dedication to the creative industries. I have a positive, passionate, and proactive attitude with an entrepreneurial mindset. I combine my endless passion for Design with a striving for excellence by merging creativity, innovation, and sustainability into strategic visions that have led me to build an international reputation for delivering high-end quality projects.

My expertise lies in multi-disciplinary strategy, Design, creative direction, entrepreneurship, marketing, interdisciplinary management and strategic leadership. My underlying leadership style is empathetic, as I believe in empowering my team members to take ownership of their work by providing them with the support and resources they need to succeed. Throughout my career, I have learned to adjust my style according to the situations and the team that I am leading. From that, I have enhanced my empathetic leadership by combining it with elements from the following styles: strategic, transformational, visionary, and situational.

As an educator, I am committed to empowering students through an impactful academic journey that aligns with current and future global industry trends and demands. My goal is to modernise education, bridge the gap between academia and industry, and create an interdisciplinary collaborative environment that leads to groundbreaking innovations and advancements.
